Alien Dawn

Alien Dawn was a television series which aired on Nickelodeon in 2012-2014. It was a live action series but the comic artwork featured prominently into the story and theme of the show, and was turned into animation motion-comic segments in every episode.

I was Lead Artist for the comic art department but when we brought on Jon Haeffner and Mike Shoykhet I had Mike take the reigns on pencils, and Jon handling inks, so we could easily keep a consistent look throughout the series. I would write each sequence of pages based on what a brief description in the script called for (ie: "a boy floating in the air with a green, alien glow" or "our space girl character meets with a tall, alien man in a temple resembling these live action sets"), work with the Animation Director on storyboarding the animated sequences, and then lay out each page based on said storyboards. After Mike and Jon were finished I'd add colours, effects and lettering to each page and chop the page into animation assets.
